Barilla Bay Oysters enters voluntary withdrawal of oysters
Barilla Bay Oysters has entered into a voluntary recall of its oyster products from the market.
Barilla Bay Oysters General Manager Justin Goc said public health is our company’s prime concern and we are working closely with the Director of Public Health, Dr Roscoe Taylor to resolve the matter.
As a result, the public are requested to dispose of any Barilla Bay Oysters they may have purchased from Barilla Bay Oysters retail outlet on or before Sunday 31 March 2013 or Mure’s Lower Deck between Thursday 28 March and Saturday 30 March 2013.
No Barilla Bay Oyster products have been sold by Mure’s Lower Deck since Saturday 30 March.
Mr Goc said we have been advised by the Director of Public Health that based on investigations of illness reports, our oysters at lease 113 at Dunalley appear to have been exposed to an external environmental contamination and that a survey will be undertaken of the area immediately surrounding our lease to identify its source.
“At this stage, we understand that this issue is isolated to our lease 113 at Dunalley.”
Mr Goc apologised to the public for inconvenience caused and advised the public will be regularly informed on developments.
