Campaign mobile office launch

Posted on

Helen Richardson, candidate for the Tasmanian Legislative Council Seat of Nelson, unveiled her mobile campaign office in Hobart today.

“I believe it’s really important for people in Nelson to have easy access to someone to listen to their concerns, understand their needs and share ideas,” said Helen.

“I’ve launched this mobile office so the ‘rubber can hit the road’ and I can go to where people are to have discussions about what they want for the future of their community.

“It’s a diverse electorate and stretches from Sandy Bay as far south as Kingston, and the best way to meet people is to travel to them.

Helen Richardson is an education and social justice advocate, and will be a full-time, not part-time, representative for Nelson, if elected. Helen, from Sandy Bay, is a former teacher and works at the Australian Education Union advocating for public education.

She has been a long-time campaigner for marriage equality and her decision to stand for Nelson was prompted, in part, by the Legislative Council blocking reform.

“For too long there has been a can’t do attitude in the Legislative Council — from the forestry agreement to marriage equality,” said Helen.

“After 18 years, it’s time for a change in Nelson.”

If elected, Helen’s mobile office will ‘stay on the road’ and be used to compliment her electorate office.
