Glenorchy Council held it’s AGM on Friday the 16th November at 2.00 pm when most of their constituents were at work and unable to attend.

The Agenda item Questions on Notice and Motions took two minutes because submitted questions had arrived late at Council’s offices and therefore His Honour the Mayor did not have to deal with them.

He assured everyone that “we are a very transparent organisation” and closed the meeting at 2.30pm.

At least one of those present had taken time off work to hear discussion of questions and Council matters. As a courtesy to anyone who had taken the time and trouble to attend Mayor Slade could have opened some discussion of the questions raised.

But he chose not to. Alderman Johnston tried to get him to do so but the other Aldermen did not support her.

Mayor Slade and Aldermen Pearce, Martin, King, Ridler and Carnes are up for re-election next year.
