Some people are not getting what they are paying for …
Frustrated by slowADSL internet speeds I decided to do my own checks and ask others if they are experiencing the same problem. Yes they are in northern Tas from what I can gather.
It appears some people are not getting what they are paying for when it comes to their internet speed.
Whatever happened to Weights and Measures? Just imagine if your local butcher pulled this trick.
Using a speed test which can be found athttp://speedtest.isage.net.au/ this is what I discovered.
If you look at the 9.40pm download speed you will see it is worse than 64K dial-up speed that I was on more than a decade ago.
This is pretty poor when I only live 15 minutes out of Launceston down the Tamar valley.
I suggest you give it a go to see if you are getting what you are paying for and do a test at various times of the day. You might like to copy the results to Wordpad or similar.
When I approached my provider for help they said:
We have been informed by the carrier that there has been congestion on the DSLAM your phone line connected to.
Unfortunately, there is no ETR for any upgrade in near future
When I approached Telstra Country Wide to ask when their acknowledged congestion problem would be fixed they said :
With regards to your internet connection speed you would need to discuss this matter with your service provider.
With Telstra operational separation according to the ACCC between our wholesale divisions and retail, we cannot have direct communication.
As such the course of action is through your ISP directly and the internal troubleshooting that they provide.
Our retail inbox can assist however, with any Telstra retail products you have.
