Victorian fox bounty flushes out the reynards. In Tasmania …
Dave Groves
Victorian shooters have culled a staggering 80,000 foxes in Victoria in 8 months attracting a $10 bounty on every fox shot.
Since last October 10,000 foxes were killed every month. The State Government declared open season when it offered a $4 million fund for four-year bounty on foxes and wild dogs.
The Victorian branch of Sporting Shooters’ Association of Australia, were staggered at the numbers of foxes killed in a relatively short time. Shooters claimed that foxes were reasonably easy to flush out and kill. Shooters claim their bounties by presenting the scalped face of a fox for reward.
From 2006 to 2010 a $5000 one-off bounty for a Tasmanian fox was offered through Tasmanian Times: Here
This reward was never paid out.
