Battery Point: council’s NO

Tonight Council unanimously agreed NOT to support the draft amendments to the Battery Point and Sullivans Cove Planning Schemes.

The Council will engage a different consultant planner to appear at the Planning Commission.

Thanks to everyone who made representations – Council members demonstrated tonight that they do listen to the community and keep an open mind.

Next steps

The Tasmanian Planning Commission will consider the draft amendment, all submissions received and the Council’s recommendation. If you made a representation you will be contacted and asked if you wish to attend a hearing.

As the draft amendment has been lodged with the Tasmanian Planning Commission, the Commission is required by law to consider it.

A community meeting will be held in coming weeks to discuss representation at the Commission.
