Cybersmart Networking — Private Lives in Public Spaces
The Australian Communications and Media Authority will formally launch Cybersmart Networking—a new online safety resource for students—in Hobart with Catryna Bilyk, Senator for Tasmania and Chair of the Joint Select Committee on Cybersafety.
Where: St Aloysius Catholic College, Nautilus Grove, Huntingfield, TAS 7055
When: Friday 4th November 2011.
Time: 11.30am students will trial the activity – Official launch commences 12pm midday
Cybersmart Networking uses a realistic online environment to teach young people how to stay safe on social networking sites, without exposing them to real risks.
The activity is part of the ACMA’s suite of Cybersmart Interactive Shared Learning activities to educate and empower students so that they can manage cybersafety issues, discover what information is safe for them to post online, and negotiate the balance between their private and public online lives.
The Cybersmart team and staff from the St Aloysius College Huntingfield campus, invited guests and students from St Aloysius will attend the 12pm session. Students, teachers, Senator Bilyk and the ACMA staff will be available for interview.
Cybersmart Networking is Cybersmart’s newest cybersafety activity following the successful launch of dramatic short film Tagged, in September.
