Sensational Cilla
Cilla is an uncommon name, it means, ‘study’ or ‘vision’ and describes Cilla Jane the musician well, she is a student of music continually checking out various bands for inspiration but at the same time she tries not to replicate their sound but find her own and in this she is a woman of vision.
Cilla’s acknowledged haunting voice can be enjoyed in her most recent single ‘into the woods’. A gorgeous animation feature of a Little Red Riding Hood-esque story of a young girl with an adventurous spirit who decides to go into the woods today to see what she can see. On her journey she is addressed by an owl and given a wisdom amulet which offers protection with her next encounter with a fox, she takes this meeting in her stride (literally) and runs with her fear. After the fox warns her to leave the forest she meets a gentle deer who gives her words of encouragement to persevere and ‘stay a while’.
This lovely story reminds us all to persist with our dreams and out run our fears. And so it is with Cilla. Achieving success in the world of music can be vast and challenging but outrunning those fears and perseverance are the key to success.
Cilla has done a lot of work as a support act and she agrees it’s nice to have a ready made audience, however now Cilla is doing her own gigs as well and establishing a strong fan base for herself and her unique sound which she describes as ‘acoustic folk’.
Cilla has been to Tassie on precious occasions as a support act to Irish singers, Brian Kennedy and Luka Bloom. Cilla sent the legendary Luka one of her CDs in the hopes he might listen and he did listen and more, deciding to enlist her as his support act.
Cilla had a lot of New Year’s resolutions this year among them a frantic photography session, driving around Tassie in a bus and going to the moon!
The latter realised in the mantra
‘Bigger and better things to come’
We can assume there are bigger and better things to come in this visionary young musician’s future.
