Posted on

The Claremont Rotary Club and Hobart Branch of Make-A-Wish advise that Adriana Taylor MLC and Craig Farrell MLC will be gathering on the lawns of Parliament House on Tuesday 11 October at 11am to launch this year’s Le Tour de Norfy Challenge (Cycle ride) to be held on 30 October 2011.

Craig Stringer, Public Relations spokesperson for Claremont Rotary Club said that this is one of the major fund raising events for Make-A-Wish and the Claremont Rotary Club.

Mr Stringer said that he was very pleased that this year so many of our parliamentarians are getting behind this event both to help raise funds and to promote fitness.

Mr Stringer said “With the recent interest in events such as the Tour of Tasmania which covered some of the course used for Le Tour de Norfy Challenge along the Derwent River and through parts of the Derwent Valley that this would spark interest from non competitive and amateur cyclist who would like to ride over a course used for a professional cycling event.”

Mr Stringer said “Le Tour de Norfy Challenge consists of three rides that start and finish at Kensington Park, New Norfolk;

• 38 km ride New Norfolk to Bushy Park, via Rosegarland and then back to New Norfolk

• 76 km ride Twice the 38 km ride, and

• 106 km ride New Norfolk to Hamilton, Ellendale and then back to New Norfolk

“Riders can ride as individuals or as part of team. This is not a race it is a fund raiser and a fun day for cyclist” Mr Stringer said.

Mr Stringer also said “He would like to see teams from local business compete as a team building exercise.”
