Alderman Burnet & Greens should come clean
Alderman Burnet made the following statements, “I will continue to talk about the positive developments that are happening in Hobart. The Greens are not anti-development and the facts speak for themselves. How is it that we have over half a billion dollars of investments coming on line in this city and a trend which bucks national statistics for slowing growth as a result of the GFC? Those developments include a $10 million project to revitalize Parliament Square and a $120 million revamp of Myer.”
Alderman Marti Zucco said today, “I am absolutely astounded at Alderman Burnet’s misleading statements that she is pro-development. I take exception at her audacity to boast about the $120 million on the Myer development.”
Alderman Zucco said, “I have placed newspaper advertisements challenging ALL Aldermen to come clean on the Myer development and publicly state how they voted. I voted for Myer, the question is did Alderman Burnett do the same? She boasts about the amount that this development is worth. I challenge her to state her vote publicly as she is the only one that can release that information to the public.”
Alderman Zucco said, “I have the documentation that proves that the Greens have voted against many developments, many that were recommended for approval by our council officers.”
Alderman Zucco said, “I am appalled at statements made by Alderman Burnet and, in particular, misleading comments. It is time that the Greens were exposed, in particular Alderman Burnett’s comments that are misleading the public.”
Alderman Zucco further added, “I challenge Alderman Burnet. That what I am stating is both truthful and factual. If I am wrong, I will step down as candidate for Deputy Lord Mayor on the proviso that Alderman Burnett, should she be misleading the public on the Myer proposal, she steps down as candidate for Lord Mayor.”
Alderman Zucco further added, “Do not be fooled by the Greens propaganda, the facts speak for themselves, the Hobart City Council Minutes are those facts. I endeavoured to have the closed Minutes of the Myer development released to the public; maybe those who voted against the Closed Minutes being released should also come clean.”
In conclusion he said, “ In contrast, I believe the Greens would have cost this City near half a billion dollars in investment if they had their way and the Minutes of the Hobart City Council show how many times Green members voted against appropriate development over the past years.”
