WIN FOR KINGSTON RESIDENTS

Posted on

The Tasmanian Greens Leader Nick McKim has welcomed the Premier-Treasurer’s decision to transfer ownership of the former Kingston High School site from the Treasury to Kingborough Council.

“I’m pleased that Lara Giddings has listened and responded to the wishes of the community on this issue.”

“It has been clear for some time, not least at the recent community meeting at Kingston Beach Hall, that the Kingston community wanted the council to take over the site, and that residents wanted a say in its future.”

“This is a very well situated parcel of land with huge potential, so now it’s up to the Kingborough Council to work with the community on a plan for the development of the site.”

“I am keen to see the details of the proposed health centre but the site transfer still seems a welcome development, and those who have campaigned on this issue should feel proud of their efforts.”

“This is another great example of how community action gets results.”
