The peace before the storm
The peace before the storm
G.Stannus
There’s nothing like the peace
that precedes the thunderstorm,
the calm that accompanies the warmth
-and the darkening cosiness.
When heard on a mellow radio,
there’s nothing like lightning
striking somewhere, static
-as people chat inconsequentially.
There’s nothing like the gradual
stillness of the air,
a storm
– poised to strike
there’s nothing like expectation
voices sounding somehow different
thoughts and feelings
– somehow strangely roused.
There’s nothing like
new situations developing,
which call for new responses,
-is there, darling?
