HOBART RADIO SHOW THE BRINK DECLARES 22ND OF JULY TONY ABBOTT DAY!

Posted on

AFTER SUCCESSFULLY CAMPAIGNING TO GET THE PRIME MINISTER JULIA GILLARD ON THEIR STATION, HOBART’S EDGE RADIO IS NOW ASKING ALL PEOPLE TO CHANGE THEIR PROFILE PICTURE ON FACEBOOK TO THAT OF OUR FEDERAL OPPOSITION LEADER FOR ONE DAY ON JULY 22.

Edge Radio’s Friday breakfast show The Brink, has declared this Friday, Tony Abbott Day.

The Brink held a similar day in their previous Operation Julia campaign and after interviewing Minister Gillard on the 1st o July they are now giving the opposition leader the same privilege by asking all people to change their profile picture on Facebook to that of one of Tony Abbott on July 22nd, to show that Australia supports an interview with Mr.Abbott on Hobart’s leading community radio station.

The show’s hosts Ben Waterworth & Kelly Trepkowski have talked with some of the biggest guests in Edge Radio’s history, from Tasmanian Premier Lara Giddings, 7 times Formula 1 Champion Michael Schumacher and even Jeff the purple Wiggle, and after the national and international headlines the interview with Prime Minister Gillard created after her confession of a David Essex crush, getting Tony Abbott on the show has become priority number one.

“Landing an interview with the Prime Minister was the biggest event in our shows history and we always planned to give the opposition leader a right to reply and also have his chance in the spotlight. By holding a day in his honour we feel that the other 50% or so of voters who didn’t feel comfortable changing their Facebook pictures to that of our Prime Minister will now also have an opportunity to get involved.” host Ben Waterworth says

“The headlines that Julia’s interview made are still being heard around the world, and we are sure that Mr.Abbott too is desperate to have a bit of fun and take some time away fro everything Carbon Tax related. We easily encourage everyone involved to use a picture of the opposition leader in his famous red Speedos as I’m sure that’s something everyone wants to see glaring at them on Facebook for 24 hours.”

International Tony Abbott day is apart of The Brink’s ‘Operation Tony’ campaign and a similarly themed ‘Operation Kevin’ is also in place in an effort to land an interview with former Prime Minister and current Foreign Minister Kevin Rudd. A day in his honour is being planned for next week.

The Brink is broadcast live every Friday morning on Hobart’s Edge Radio from 7am till 10am and has gone on to become on of Hobart’s favourite breakfast shows. Edge Radio itself has been on air for nearly 10 years and has become Hobart’s number one choice for youth issues as well its leading community station.
