Integrity Commission secrecy, says Hodgman
The Tasmanian Opposition has accused the Government of secrecy, as it finalises senior appointments to the state’s first anti-corruption watchdog.
The Government has revealed an Assistant Police Commissioner from Western Australia, Barbara Etter, is the Integrity Commission’s chief executive, and starts in two weeks.
The Opposition leader, Will Hodgman, says he was not consulted about the appointment before yesterday’s announcement, in breach of the Integrity Commission Act.
But the Premier David Bartlett insists he told Mr Hodgman about the appointment by phone six weeks ago.
Mr Bartlett says he phoned the Liberal leader from the COAG meeting in Canberra on or about April the 19th to tell him about the appointment.

Both the Greens Leader and the Upper House President, Independent Sue Smith have confirmed they were consulted.
The Government hopes to have the Commission running by next month.
