Heroin claim a sign of Labor panic. And Greens response

Posted on

The Tasmanian Labor Party claims the Greens have a secret plan to legalise heroin.

Labor’s State Secretary John Dowling has released advertising material that states the Greens support legalising heroin, as well as giving violent criminals the right to vote.

The material quotes Greens MP Cassy O’Connor, who told Parliament heroin was not the scourge on society it used to be, and prohibition was not the solution.

The Greens leader, Nick McKim, says Labor is panicking and lying about Greens policies again.

He says Tasmanians can either believe David Bartlett, or they can believe him.

Labor and the Liberals have also ruled out any deals if they end up in minority government.

Greens Leader

The Tasmanian Greens today responded to Labor s latest lies about Greens policy by releasing their new leaflet, based on truth and integrity in politics, which will arrive in 50 000 letterboxes around Tasmania between now and Saturday.

Greens Leader Nick McKim MP said that Tasmanians are having their intelligence insulted by Premier Bartlett and Labor lying to them, and that Labor s lies will be treated with the contempt they deserve by voters.

Tasmanians are sick of Labor s lies and negative campaigning. The Greens will keep listening to Tasmanians, responding to their concerns, and working hard to restore truth and integrity to Tasmanian politics.

This is now an issue of integrity and truth in politics. I am happy to put my integrity up against Mr Bartlett s and let Tasmanians sit in judgement on Saturday.

Mr McKim said that the Greens Justice Policy states clearly and explicitly that the Greens do not support legalising or decriminalising any illicit drug.
