Tony Abbott described Steve Titmus as “…an icon of Northern Tasmania who had stepped down from the pedestal of hosting Southern Cross news”

Premier swapped usual hardhat for a hairnet yesterday for his visit to a Lutana fruit-processing factory – a pitch to small business ahead of last night’s debate …

Discussion of debates as a way to avoid questioning by journalists

Bartlett’s refusal to debate with McKim on TV has led to these small-scale meetings with special interest groups eg 30 people in last night’s audience

Simon Fraser says he has been ‘scruffed’ by government minders for second time in two days. Dean Parry (one of Bartlett’s minders, “a Media Office roadie”says Fraser) called him “Paul Lennon’s love-child”.

Parry later wrote on Facebook “This is what it sounds like when journalists cry”.

This came about because Parry was unhappy with some of the journalists’ questions.

“They seem to think that I should be asking the questions they want to be asked” says Simon.

The Greens? They’ve been out meeting stake-holders rather than doing big set-piece media events
