Is Dr Sexton working too hard?

Posted on

I was a little bemused to read the Tasmanian Times article titled Backing Dr McGinity published on 4/02/10 (Backing Dr McGinity: HERE).

It wasn’t until I read the featured advertisement that I learned that Dr. McGinity had been suspended for working too hard. As this is now obviously public policy, espoused by Lara Giddings, the Labor Government’s version of Paris Hilton; I would like to recommend that Lara also take this stand with the man she installed in the top job at the Medical Council of Tasmania, Dr. Peter Sexton.

It is not until I considered what I now dub Lara’s rule; working too hard, that I understood why this whole tawdry mess has taken so long to conclude, Dr. Sexton is also working too hard. In fact while giving his all to the Medical Council of Tasmania for the past year or so, he has also held down many other very important and time consuming roles.

Alderman, Hobart City Council

State Medical Officer, Cricket Australia

President, Heart Foundation (Tasmania)

Board of Trustees, Tasmanian Museum and Art Gallery

State Manager, Medicare Australia

Clinical Lecturer in Medicine, University of Tasmania

General Practitioner

Have I missed any Peter?

I wonder whether Dr. Sexton might also be involved with the Circus, as he must be an expert juggler to ensure he is able to fulfill all of these responsibilities with adequate consideration.

I reckon Lara’s first job for this morning should be to review the incumbent President, down at the Medical Council, and think about installing someone who has their eye on just one ball; and then get on with finalizing this embarrassing and costly mess, regardless of the outcome.

I wonder.
