Positioning for character assassination …
Dr Duffett, I understand your concern regard when and how data is released and to whom.
You only have to look at Barry #5, or Dr Kev or Thomas, to know that whatever we release will be widely criticised in Tasmania.
Indeed Senator Kerry O’Brien (from #9) is already positioning for a character assassination.
The concept that two people can be genuinely concerned for the welfare of Tasmanian people and animals seems to be totally foreign to Tasmanian politicians.
“Why would anyone do that? Must have a hidden agenda?”
Since 2005 we have told the Tasmanian Government the water was a problem backed by toxicity testing from a NATA accredited laboratory (the same one that was used for the Pulp Mill assessment).
We subsequently went to the State then Federal AMA who were told by Tasmania Alison’s data was no good; however, the alternate data set was never produced despite requests from me. We went to the Federal Government and eventually got to John Howard’s Office where his scientific advisory said: “This is a State issue, go talk to them.”
Now the data sits in the hands of jawyers.
The next step is an independent inquiry or court.
We’ve put too much into this to see it fall apart at the hands of people who don’t care.
