Mudwalls gets fiery
Fiery meeting at the Mudwalls Meeting this evening at Colebrook.
Jane Howlett, the spokesperson for the Mudwalls Action Group, copped a fair blast from Labor stalwarts Michael Polley, Graeme Sturges and Heather Butler.
Labor did not waste any time in pushing their line directly to MS Howlett that they had announced $90 million dollars on regional roads, and what were the Liberals going to do?
For someone who is still a candidate, Ms Howlett did not crumble and challenged the seasoned politicians to their record in government, why they were announcing fixing roads after 12 years and announcing it now on the eve of a critical election and where the money was coming from.
She challenged a few politicians personally on their long-term records in parliament and their seeming comfort in their positions and their inaction on issues.
Other candidates from all political sides sat there quietly, perhaps wondering if they had the fire in their bellies for this kind of stoush which is de-rigeur for State politics.
These stalwarts of the political game, i think, met a real match in Ms Howlett and are perhaps realising she is not a powder-puff but a powder-keg.
