Open Air Forum

Now We the People (Tasmania) will be holding an Open Air Forum on the lawns outside Parliament House, Hobart on Saturday 20 February, starting at 11.00 am.

Speakers will be Senator Christine Milne, Vica Bayley from the Wilderness Society, Peter Cundall, Lucy Landon-Lane from ‘Pulp the Mill’, Peter Boyer, Hayley Bester from the public transport lobby group, Bus It, Susan Hawkins and State Secretary of the Firefghters Union, Richard Warwick.

Topics to be covered include climate change, forestry, public transport, education, manufacturing industry and meaningful employment in a sustainable future.

Following the forum, discussions will continue in the Battery Point Community Hall, Hampden Road, between 1.00 and 3.00 pm.

Convener of Now We the People (Tasmania), Tim Thorne, said, “There are a number of important and interlinked issues which are in danger of being swept aside during the election campaign by a flood of superficial matters which it suits the politicians to discuss. We the people must keep raising these issues, attempt to elicit meaningful responses from candidates, and vote according to those responses.
