Rosebery Residents’ Shocked at Council’s Abatement Notice
Kay Seltitzas and Marsha Stejskal of the THMTT, have today lodged an Appeal in the Hobart Magistrates Court against an Abatement Notice issued to them by West Coast Council and received on the 14th of December 2009.
Ms Seltitzas will outline details of the Abatement Notice and the grounds for Appeal. Ms Seltitzas will release a document which proves Council’s responsibility to remedy drainage issues at their properties in Rosebery which have contributed to the Abatement Notice being issued.
Ms Seltitzas and Miss Stejskal have evacuated from their homes in Rosebery to live in other areas in Tasmania.
Ms Seltitzas and Miss Stejskal have also written to Director of Health Dr Roscoe Taylor, requesting that the Department of Health and Human Services pay for any costs incurred by Council for work outlined in the Abatement Notice as had previously been done in January 2009.
Ms Seltitzas and Miss Stejskal have been medically diagnosed with heavy metal poisoning and are shocked that the Director of Health Dr Roscoe Taylor and Mayor Darryl Gerrity have failed to take appropriate action on these issues.
