Sturges must answer when he knew about Southern Condor safety concerns, and what he did about them

Posted on

Infrastructure Minister Graeme Sturges needs to urgently explain when he first knew about the safety concerns on the Southern Condor, and what he has done about them.

Marine and Safety Tasmania (MAST) is a Government authority under the responsibilty of Mr Sturges.

It is not good enough for Mr Sturges to fob responsibility for this issue off to them. He is the Minister.

Not only has Mr Sturges allowed the shipping service to Flinders Island to virtually collapse on his watch, he’s apparently also ignored potentially serious safety concerns about the vessel servicing the Island.

His apparent failure to act on this matter raises further serious questions about his capacity to serve as a Minister of the Crown.
