There’s some disconnect here …

AURORA Energy, in its ecological wisdom and craving to appear “green” has been spending a shed load of money telling us what to do to save electricity. So I thought I’d do my bit.
With a bit of effort and quite some cost, I managed to reduce my power bills by $35 a month. I changed the shower head to reduce the hot water flow.
My two teenagers howled, but then they could go through 300 litres of hot water in a couple of showers, leaving the rest of us howling, “who used all the bloody water?”
As advised, I changed all the incandescent lamps in the house to low energy bulbs.
Last month Aurora announces they are putting up charges by 15% because there’s no money in the till! I have a bit of a problem with the logic behind this: they spend money telling you to use less; so they make less money.
Then they put their prices up.
Now if I find more ways to economise, they’ll obviously have to put their prices up again. Will this downward spiral continue until we are again living by candlelight? Maybe it’s just me, but there appears to be some disconnect here.
