Forestry: Prove me wrong …

I’d sincerely like to see some change (and not just the pap put out recently on commercial television trying to up the image), but visiting our “multiple use” “production forests” even in the last few months, I’ve yet to see any regard for an approach to sustainability, let alone understanding of biodiversity and its importance to maintaining a healty environment for minor species. This report appears to be based on economics as the bottom line argument for a change in behaviour. Yet the lifetimes to reach maturity of many minor species far exceeds even the lifetime of the Forestry Commission/Forestry Tasmania as an organisational entity, and this sort of timeframe and need for forestry environment conservation to ensure their survival doesn’t get a look in or appear to be factored in.
