Labor Senator Lisa Singh has dealt an embarrassing slap-down to Labor Leader Bryan Green by revealing the party’s true failure to back Tasmania’s salmon Industry and Tasmanian jobs.
Despite the Senate Inquiry strongly backing Tasmania’s salmon industry, Labor and the Greens have again united against the industry.
Today, Senator Lisa Singh told the ABC Rural that she supported the Greens proposal to change oversight of the industry.
The question remains, will Mr Green stand-up to his colleague and stand-up for the industry?
Or, will Mr Green admit the truth, that Labor remains in bed with the Greens and is intent on destroying the salmon industry?
Unlike Labor, the Hodgman Liberal Government stands united and steadfast in our commitment to the salmon industry and Tasmanian jobs.
Tasmania’s salmon industry is one of the most strongly regulated in the world and that’s exactly what the Senate inquiry that the Greens set up found.
Aquaculture is already bound by the provisions of both the Marine Farm Planning Act 1995 and the Environmental Management and Pollution Control Act 1994, which the EPA has responsibility for.
The Hodgman Liberal Government takes very seriously our obligation to balance a sustainable salmon industry with other fisheries while ensuring we protect our marine environment.
