In the last three months alone, 1,200 jobs have been created in the South, 500 in the North and North East and 400 in the North West.

The Liberal Government’s number one priority is jobs and while today’s ABS data on regional employment shows there is still a lot of work to do, we are heading in the right direction.

Unemployment rates continue to drop around the State, with the unemployment rate on the North West the lowest it’s been in two and a half years and the rate in the North and North East dropping over half a per cent in the last 12 months.

The Sensis Business Index also shows that confidence is growing faster in Tasmania than anywhere else, moving from equal lowest under Labor and the Greens at the start of 2014, to equal second highest under the Liberals at the end of 2014. Support from Tasmanian businesses for the Tasmanian Government has also gone from the worst in the country under Labor and the Greens to the second best in the nation.

The Liberal Government’s long-term Plan is all about jobs and growing the economy and these results are welcome news. We will continue to drive investment, support business growth and invest in Tasmania’s future as our Plan outlines.
