Labor Leader Bryan Green has welcomed the approval of the Mancala Resources mine at Burns Peak Reserve and said it should spur the Liberals into action.
“The mine’s final approval is great news for Tullah and the West Coast,” Mr Green said.
“Hopefully this will encourage the Liberal Government to ramp up its support of mining in Tasmania.
“What is the Government doing in terms on incentivising exploration opportunities? Under the Liberals exploration investment has collapsed.
“Prior to the election people like Adam Brooks were vocal over mining in Tasmania but they’ve been much quieter since they came to power.
“There are mining projects on the drawing board that the Government should be trumpeting.
“Venture’s Mt Lindsay project and the Avebury Nickel Mine both present the opportunity for economic growth. These projects and others need the Government’s backing.
“Labor will continue its strong support of mining from opposition and calls on the government to back the industry with more enthusiasm.”
