The Government has suspended the Director of Public Prosecutions Tim Ellis from his duties for a further two weeks while a decision is made on his future.
Mr Ellis has been suspended from his duties since late 2013 while court proceedings against him took place.
The current suspension will expire at midnight on Tuesday 13 January. The Government is taking legal advice and considering its options, and has deemed it appropriate to extend the suspension for two weeks.
This will allow a decision to be made prior to the suspension ending on 28 January.
No decision has yet been made.
