Early Support for Parents volunteers are true quiet achievers in the community and social services sector, providing help in Southern Tasmania for those who have the most important job of all – parents.

The Liberal Government is pleased to provide the volunteer visiting program with funding of about $61,000 a year, which supports two part-time employees and an army of volunteers.

Today, it was great to join with the board, volunteers and those who have received the help of Early Support for Parents to celebrate its 25 years of operation.

This is a service that recognises that many parents, for one reason or another, are not able to receive the assistance of family or friends that others readily have, and can be left feeling isolated and stressed.

Volunteers, many of whom are celebrating decades of service, reach out to families experiencing stress and offer care, support and time.

By providing a friendly shoulder to lean on they make an enormous difference in the lives of many families, with the simple but laudable goal of encouraging more positive parenting experiences for parents and also their children.

On behalf of the Government, I thank all involved in the Early Support for Parents program for the great work they do in our community.
