PLoT Theatre Company has announced its final production for 2014 – a staging of Shakespeare’s classic tragedy Hamlet, performing from December 5th until Saturday 13th December at the Peacock Theatre, Salamanca Arts Centre.
The popularity of Hamlet has endured the ages, its language and themes a constant companion to each generation of actors and audiences.
Director Tai Gardner commented that despite its frequent staging, each production of Hamlet provides a new interpretation from its predecessors.
“Shakespeare’s works have proved enduringly popular with our audiences. Hamlet represents the biggest challenge I’ve undertaken as a director and I’m always excited by the new ideas and insights offered by my cast” said Mr. Gardner.
“Every rehearsal, the cast find new ideas in the text and interpretations of the scenes. This is one of the strongest casts we’ve put together for a production- a huge advantage when tackling such an important text in the dramatic canon.”
Hamlet concludes a successful season for the society, which has included a production of The School for Scandal and the staging of a series of original Tasmanian works known collectively as Disclosed.
