The Festival of Voices choral stream is embarking on its most adventurous project yet.

We are thrilled to reveal our 2015 major workshop will present Joseph Haydn’s The Creation, one of the iconic masterworks of the eighteenth century.

With a full symphony orchestra and three soloists, you are invited once again to spend five days under the expert guidance of British conductor David Lawrence.

“His sense of humour, well structured teaching sessions and his empathy for new comers performing major works with an orchestra, are just some of the indicators of his professionalism. David has the capacity to create a wonderful and memorable choral experience for all who work with him” – Joan Wright, Associate Producer The Creation.

Within just a few years of its premiere in 1799, The Creation had been performed in all the major European centres from London to Moscow, and in Haydn’s lifetime it became his first universally acknowledged musical masterpice.

Next to Handel’s Messiah, The Creation is perhaps the most frequently performed oratorio in the world today, and Festival of Voices will give every singer the opportunity to perform it.

Be part of something remarkable and secure your place by March 13 to take advantage of our early rate.

A MESSAGE FROM DAVID LAWRENCE:

I am very much looking forward to my third visit to Hobart for FoV next July to conduct The Creation, Joseph Haydn’s glorious oratorio.

For the FoV workshop singers it represents the next step on the ladder. Together we have already performed in Haydn’s much smaller work, The Nelson Mass and Mozart’s exquisite Requiem. Singers will use the skills they developed in those workshops to rise to the challenges in The Creation.

The Creation, with its full size orchestra, beautiful solo and choral writing, offers a much longer work that will give every singer a huge sense of achievement on concert day.

FoV must be very proud to be able to offer this wonderful opportunity to the singers of Australia.

I look forward to working with you next July.

Best wishes,

David Lawrence
