A parliamentary committee has handed over parts of its investigation into Tasmania’s RSPCA to authorities.
The Public Accounts Committee launched an inquiry into the strife-ridden animal welfare organisation after turmoil in management ranks, including calls for the board to be thrown.
The organisation had employed four CEOs since 2008 and two had been dismissed for misconduct.
The inquiry has tabled its report and has recommended a radical overhaul to protect taxpayer funds.
It says the Government should stop funding the group until there is a change in management practices, which the committee says are dysfunctional.
The Government has a $400,000 a year contract with the society and has handed over an extra $770,000 in taxpayer money over the last three years for additional support.

The committee heard allegations of “criminality” along with allegations of “political interference” and will refer some of the evidence it received to relevant authorities.

Chairman Ivan Dean says the committee did not make findings on the issues because they are outside the inquiry’s terms of reference.
