The Waste of Tasmania Expo throws down the gauntlet to SWS’ Christine Bell 4

Will she accept the challenge or are organisers wasting their breath?

Organisers of this Saturday’s “Waste of Tasmania” expo are hoping that Southern Waste Solutions’ Christine Bell will take off her pro-landfill hat for a couple of hours and see for herself the range of waste management alternatives.

“We genuinely hope Christine won’t let pride stop her from attending,” said organiser Angela Marsh. “Waste management is an increasingly important issue for Tasmania and we all need to know the facts and the options.”

“Good waste management is not just about creating a cleaner environment. It has the potential to create hundreds of jobs in what could be a thriving new Tasmanian industry.”

Speakers throughout the day will include MP Andrew Wilkie, recycling champion Michael Swanton, Southern Beaches Conservation Society’s Michael Shrapnel, Tasmanian Conservation Trust’s Peter McGlone and Environment Tasmania’s Shane Humpherys.

Tasmanians big and small are encouraged to see the possibilities for themselves whilst enjoying the live entertainment, sausage sizzle, public soapbox and kids corner.

It will be held on the lawns outside Parliament House from 11am until 3pm this Saturday the 29th June.
