The Tasmanian Greens today announced Alderman Kay McFarlane and Max Bahrfeldt as their candidates for Clarence City Council in the upcoming local government elections, with Alderman McFarlane also running for Deputy Mayor.

Greens Leader Nick McKim MP said that the Alderman McFarlane and Mr Bahrfeldt would campaign on issues including emissions reduction, strategic planning and coastal protection.

“The Greens are the only party to have consistently fought alongside the local community to protect Ralphs Bay, and these elections will allow Clarence ratepayers to send a strong message that the Bay must be saved from Walker Corporation’s obnoxious development.”

“We are confident that our continuing support for the community campaign to save Ralphs Bay will be reflected in the result.”

“Kay has been a strong voice on council for sustainability and long term strategic planning, and would make a brilliant Deputy Mayor if given the opportunity.”

“Max has extensive experience in adult education, and his commitment to lifelong learning and community empowerment would make him an excellent representative for the people of Clarence.”
