MATTHEW ROGERS, Adviser to Premier David Bartlett
My original point stands – and is supported by Karen Cassidy.
The Greens do not invite journalists to cover their conferences; they simply allow them to cover the leader’s speech.
Big difference – and Mr Lohberger knows it.
This is supported by the coverage of last weekend’s Greens conference. There was coverage of the speech but nothing else.
No coverage of policy debates or pre-selection debates.
Contrast this with the Labor State Conference, which journalists were invited to cover in full – contrary to the inaccuracies being peddled by Mr Lohberger.
The unhindered media access resulted in multiple stories on the debate over gay marriage, for example, and Bass pre-selection.
I’m prepared to accept Mr Lohberger has commented out of ignorance rather than in a deliberate attempt to mislead.
But it’s hard to escape the conclusion that the Greens are operating like a secret society that stubbornly refuses to let the sunshine in.
It’s also hard to escape the conclusion that when it comes to manipulating the media for self-gain, the Greens are in a league of their own.
Where is Bob Burton now and why isn’t he probing these inconsistencies if he’s as impartial as he would have us believe?
