NICK McKIM, Greens Leader
The Tasmanian Greens today (Sunday) said that Labor faces a choice between an old-style ideology which demands absolute power, and endorsing a co-operative and constructive approach to power sharing, when Premier David Bartlett is forced to confront his Caucus on the issue tomorrow

Greens Leader Nick McKim MP said that he hopes that Labor is able to demonstrate maturity by agreeing to work co-operatively with whatever Parliament the Tasmanian people choose next year.

“The Tasmanian people have moved on from an ideologically driven debate about majority government. They would far prefer to know how the people they elect to Parliament next year intend to deliver outcomes on their behalf,” Mr McKim said.

“The last three years have conclusively proven that majority government does not always deliver stability.”

Mr McKim repeated the Greens’ commitment to work responsibly and co-operatively to deliver stable government and good outcomes for Tasmania in the event of a power sharing Parliament being chosen.

“We will behave constructively by negotiating in good faith with whoever the Tasmanian people choose to represent them.”
