Tasmanian farmers rewarded
The TFGA would like to congratulate all of the Tasmanian category winners and participants in the Australian Farmer of the Year Awards in Sydney last night.
Dunalley farmer Matt Dunbabin, of Dunalley, took out the prestigious title of 2015 Farmer of the Year, as well winning an award for diversification. Brian and Michele Lawrence from Meander scored a gong for Dairy Farmer of the Year, while Tasmanian Beekeepers’ Association president, Lindsay Bourke was rewarded for his passion for biosecurity.
Tasmania was also well represented at the 2015 RIRDC Rural Women’s Award’s in Canberra last night where hazelnut grower Carol Bracken was awarded runner-up.
“The results of these events once again underscore the fact that that the Tasmanian agricultural industry punches well above its weight,” TFGA CEO Peter Skillern said.
