This morning refugee supporters in three capital cities have visited TransField Services offices in Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane to question management over the human rights abuses, torture, child abuse and sexual assault of refugees on Manus Island.

The refugee supporters are asking for a public statement by Transfield over allegations they flew three Wilson Security guards off Manus Island after allegations of their involvement in a rape were reported.

A spokesperson for the refugee supporters stated:

“We are here today calling on Transfield Services to explain why they flew the alleged rapists off Manus Island. Transfield needs to end its contract with Wilson’s Security and cooperate with all official proceedings relating to the abuse of asylum seekers and allegations of rape on Manus Island”.

“The Federal Government has 28 days to cancel the new five year contract it has awarded to Transfield Services or they should expect the community to further disrupt both Transfield Services and Wilsons Security because of their clear involvement in child abuse and human rights abuses”

The refugee supporters insist the Abbott Government must take full responsibility and accountability for its brutal refugee policy and close the camps. The Government must shut down the offshore camps on Manus and Nauru and all onshore detention camps.

If the Abbott Government can act swiftly to change its stance on Syrian refugees, then there is no reason it cannot act as swiftly to close these inhumane camps, which are also costing Australian tax payers billions of dollars.

A spokesperson for the supporters in Melbourne added

“While these indefinite detention death camps remain open on Manus and Nauru the community will continue to disrupt, blockade, and encourage divestment from those corporations committing abuse, rape and murder, while profiteering immensely off the illegal incarceration of those seeking asylum in Australia.”
