I can confirm that at the beginning of the incident on Friday a correctional officer was briefly held by two prisoners.
A second correctional officer negotiated the release of the correctional officer being held before the second officer was taken by the inmates and held against his will.
The focus of the incident response was securing the safe release of the second correctional officer.
It only became apparent that a first correctional officer had been involved through debriefings which followed later on Friday evening and through the course of the police investigation.
At no time was more than one hostage held.
These matters are now the subject of police charges and it would be inappropriate to comment further in relation to these charges.
Support continues to be provided to the correctional officers and other staff and inmates affected by the incident.
