Employment continuing to grow under Liberal Government

Job creation is the Hodgman Liberal Government’s number one priority and we are making significant progress with 4,500 new jobs created since the election.

Martyn Goddard’s media statements contradict recent economic reports from CommSec, Deloitte Access Economics, and recent ABS data, which all point to improvement in Tasmania’s economy and job market over past 18 months.

There have been 4500 new jobs created since the election and the unemployment rate is continuing to improve, falling to 6.7% in the most recent figures, down by 0.8 per cent since the election.

Mr Goddard’s statement also ignores the fact that long-term unemployment is down 11.7 per cent year-on-year as of this month.

Our number one priority is jobs and we know there is plenty more work to do, but Mr Goddard’s analysis is not in line with expert economic assessments.
