Backing Small Business

Posted on

The Hodgman Liberal Government backs small business which is the engine room of the Tasmanian economy.

Today I was pleased to launch of the Tasmanian Retailer Development Program.

The Program is part of the Tasmanian Government’s “Getting Behind, and Backing, Small Business’’ agenda and will assist retailers with personalised business health checks, a workshop series on relevant topics and one-on-one business coaching.

It is expected that at least 200 retailers will be helped to increase their skills and capacity, build better networks, establish a point of difference and ultimately lead more successful and viable businesses.

There are an estimated 4525 Tasmanian retailers responsible for 26,000 jobs and 60 per cent of these retailers have less than 20 employees.

The Tasmanian Retailer Development Program will be delivered by Chrysalis Business and Consulting and Coaching which is managed by Hobart-based Christine Storm who has local and interstate experience.

The Hodgman Liberal Government recognises that retailers need to build and grow their skills and confidence which is why I’m delighted to launch this initiative today.

The program will start with information sessions statewide from September with workshops scheduled to begin in October and you can register your interest at Business Tasmania www.business.tas.gov.au or by phoning 1800 440026.
