2016 Employer of Choice Awards Launched
The Hodgman Liberal Government is committed to supporting businesses to drive economic growth and create jobs for Tasmanians.
This morning I was pleased to launch the 2016 Employer of Choice Awards.
The Employer of Choice Awards are a great example of how government, businesses and the community can work together to create opportunities for all Tasmanians.
The Awards recognise businesses who demonstrate contemporary workplace practices and providing outstanding support for their staff.
Since starting in 2006, Tasmania has recognised 67 Employers of Choice for demonstrating contemporary workplace practices and providing outstanding support for the 13,000 staff they collectively employ.
People with the right, high quality skills are the key to increasing the productivity of our businesses and the wealth of our communities.
Past award winners say that they are able to attract the talented workers they need and retain them for the long term, because skilled people want to work for a great employer.
Working for a great employer also makes staff more motivated, productive, and happier advocates of the business, and better able to build excellent relationships with customers, which is a critical element for business success.
The Hodgman Liberal Government is committed to supporting Tasmanian businesses through initiatives such as the Buy Local campaign, a local benefits test, the Small Business Jobs Bonus, cutting red tape and making the planning system fairer, faster, simpler and cheaper.
Entries for the 2016 Employer of Choice Awards will be open from 28 August to 10 December 2016, with winners announced in mid-2016.
