Congratulations to Clare and Brendan Dean on the launch of their new distillery at Port Arthur Lavender, a wonderful new tourist attraction on the Tasman Peninsula.
Port Arthur Lavender offers a diverse range of lavender based products, from chocolate to writing paper, as well as fine food and beverages, group tours and catering for functions.
They have also tapped into Tasmania’s emerging tourism markets with an innovative multilingual marketing strategy to attract international visitors.
Importantly, the Dean’s lavender experience has created 17 new jobs for locals.
Ideally situated on the way to the Port Arthur Historic Site there’s no doubt the delicate waft of lavender will entice many tourists enroute to our state’s most visited regional tourism attraction.
The Tasmanian Government contributed $72,000 through the Innovation and Investment fund to assist with the construction of this new venture.
Port Arthur Lavender is the kind of exciting new tourism experience that will help reach our target of attracting 1.5 million visitors to our state each year by 2020.
