NSW Liberals Show Hodgman Government Up as Closed to New Ideas

Posted on

The NSW Liberal government’s decision to introduce a container deposit system (CDS) has shown up the Hodgman government as being anti-jobs and anti-recycling.

‘A container deposit system in Tasmania would create jobs, boost recycling and reduce litter. It’s genuinely a win-win-win proposition,” said Greens environment spokesperson Nick McKim MP.

“It’s a time for bouquets for Premier Baird, but brickbats for Tasmania’s anti-environment Premier Will Hodgman.”

“An extra 35 million containers were returned in the first twelve months after the Northern Territory government introduced a CDS, while Tasmania remains one of the litter capitals of Australia thanks to Mr Hodgman’s apathy.”

“While the Liberals in NSW are moving ahead with a jobs rich container deposit system, Mr Hodgman remains intimidated by the big end of the beverage industry.”
