Less than 10 months after winning the privilege of governing in our great state, the Treasurer has formally turned to the opposition for help.
“Peter Gutwein has used his first public appearance of 2015 to plead for Labor to help him fix the budget,” Labor MLC Craig Farrell said.
“Where’s the leadership? Where’s the vision?
“This is a giant admission that the Government has no answers to its budget woes as pressure mounts over damaging cuts to schools and hospitals.
“The Liberals splurged $400 million in the election campaign, failed to strike a pay freeze deal with workers and broke their promise to protect frontline services. Now they are desperately asking for help.
“Tasmanians put their trust in the Liberals to govern, not to whinge about the ALP.
“If the Liberals want help with their budget predicament then we have said from day one that re-profiling the $400 million they promised at the election would be a decent place to start.”
