Exciting future for Service Tasmania

Posted on

The Government is committed to providing the best possible services to Tasmanians. That’s why we are committed to strengthening the role of Service Tasmania for the long-term.

From 1 July 2015, the administration and management of Service Tasmania will be consolidated in the Department of Premier and Cabinet.

Currently, responsibility for Service Tasmania is spread across three departments – DPAC, DPIPWE and Education.

Our key focus is to make sure Tasmanians are getting the best service they possibly can and consolidating Service Tasmania in one department is the first step.

Service Tasmania is recognised nationally as a leader in delivering a broad range of government services as effectively as possible to as many people as possible.

This is about making sure that Service Tasmania is best placed to continue to provide exceptional service both now and into the future. While the administration and management of Service Tasmania is being consolidated, there will be no impact on Tasmanians.

Staff were informed earlier today of the Government’s decision and the relevant unions have either been briefed or been offered a briefing.

WHAT THE SERVICE TASMANIA CONSOLIDATION MEANS –

No loss of jobs
No change in the number or location of shops
No change in opening or closing hours
No change in employee entitlements
