A date for your diaries, those of you living in Launceston – and Hobart. To all others, please spread the word to your Tassie contacts.

The L’ton launch of WA academic Quentin Beresford’s book ‘The Rise and Fall of Gunns’ is to be held at Tailrace Function Centre, Waterfront Dr, Riverside on Sunday, 8th Feb at 2.30pm where businessman Geoffrey Cousins will be doing the honours.

Bob Brown will be launching the book at the Hobart event on Thursday 5th February

The Hobart launch is on Thursday, Feb 5, at Fullers Bookshop, 131 Collins St, starting at 5.30pm.

You can RSVP to rsvp@fullersbookshop.com.au

Some of you may remember ex-pat Tasmanian Quentin Beresford spoke at one of the public forums hosted by Friends of the Tamar Valley a few years ago, when his focus was on state government corruption and how Tasmania had elevated this to an unprecedented level within Australia. He cited how corruption here was entrenched, and went back decades involving both the major political parties.

His book – which is being published by the University of NSW Press (I think) should prove to be a fascinating read – and yes, there has been consultation with some of us at the forefront of the campaign to stop the pulp mill.
