An unknowable number of lives were profoundly affected for the worse last night after the traumatic events in the Lindt café in Martin Place: family, friends, the freed hostages, police, colleagues and the broader community.
And then there was the global newspaper mogul gloating about what one of his newspapers did.
What can we say?
