Liberal Government delivering on jobs

Posted on

The Liberal Government’s number one priority is jobs and today’s ABS data shows that our Plan for Tasmania is working.

While there has been some variability in the ABS data in recent months, today’s figures show that since the election over 6,000 jobs have been created and importantly, the participation rate is rising because people now have the confidence to look for work.

While these figures show we’re heading in the right direction, there is still a lot of work to do.

We remain committed to our target of reducing the unemployment rate to at least the national average and since the election, the gap between Tasmania’s unemployment rate and the national average has halved.

Our long-term Plan is vital to closing that gap because it will help grow Tasmania’s economy and create jobs.

This is yet another positive sign for the economy. Retail trade is at a record high, business confidence is through the roof, building activity is strong and Tasmania has one of the fastest growing economies in the country.

There is still a lot of work to be done and that’s why our long-term Plan for Tasmania is so important. We need to grow the economy to create jobs and we are getting on with the job Tasmanians elected us to do.
