Government must not dodge scrutiny on TT-Line
Shadow Labor Infrastructure Minister Craig Farrell today called for openness and transparency on TT-Line’s new business case.
It is understood that TT-Line has handed its new business case to Government and it is now sitting on Infrastructure Minister Rene Hidding’s desk.
“The Minister must release the business case before TT-Line fronts Government Business Enterprise hearings on Friday,” Mr Farrell said.
“On current form, our fear is that the Government will spring the business case on the committee on Friday which will give us no time to properly scrutinise its contents.
“Worse still, if the Liberals wait until after TT-Line fronts the committee it will make a mockery of the entire GBE process.
“This government is rapidly gaining a reputation for a lack of transparency.
“Two of the Liberal Party’s major promises – cutting Sprit of Tasmania fares by 20 per cent, and fixing Bass Strait freight problems – hinge on this report.
“It would come as no surprise if the Liberals again try to dodge scrutiny on these issues.”
